Oyilattam - The Dance of
Grace and Rhythm
"Celebrate Tamil heritage through vibrant steps, colorful scarves, and coordinated movements."

Oyilattam
Oyilattam, or "the dance of grace" ('Oyil' = grace, 'Attam' = dance), is a traditional Tamil Nadu folk dance that combine rhythm and coordination.Originally performed by men in village meetings, Oyilattam has evolved into an inclusive, lively art form that both men and women enjoy, especially at cultural festivals and competitions.
The dance is performed in colorful handkerchiefs that are tied to the fingers of the performers. The performers move in synchronized formation with the traditional folk beats and live drumming. Oyilattam is usually performed in lines or semicircles, creating a visually captivating and rhythmic spectacle.
At Carolina Tamil Kalaikkoodam (CTK), we delivers organized Oyilattam classes that teach both the physical technique and the cultural meaning of each dance, developing pride in Tamil traditions while also encouraging confidence and teamwork.
