Paraiattam
"Parai" refers to the drum, and "Attam" means dance — together, it becomes a meaningful expression of joy, storytelling, and unity.. Paraiattam was performed in temples, festivals, royal courts, and community meetings to notify important events such as war calls, temple festivals, and social rituals. Today, Paraiattam is more than just a cultural revival movement; it's also a symbol of Tamil pride, unity, and social empowerment.
At Carolina Tamil Kalaikkoodam(CTK), we teach Paraiattam as both a performance art and a heritage experience, connecting students to their cultural roots while fostering confidence, rhythm and collaboration.
